Maths into Science Week – April 2017

We have come to the end of a really busy and exciting maths into science week. The children have thoroughly enjoyed using and practising a variety of maths skills to further their knowledge of science through a number of different investigations, discussions, research and recording their findings.  Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who were able to join us today and thank you to all the staff who helped and guided our children to make the week such a success.  Thank you also to Mr Ashton and Mr Connolly two of our school governors who visited classrooms and talked to staff and pupils at different times throughout the week.

The children have told us –

“It was interesting to use the data loggers…  We had lots of fun when we used the radio and measured the sound waves.”

“We were looking at how temperature affects plant growth….  I enjoyed using the thermometer….  We watched the liquid inside the thermometer go up.”

“I enjoyed holding the plants and discovering the different parts of the plant…  I would like to do it all over again.”

“I enjoyed making a parachute….  We learnt about air resistance when we dropped our parachutes.”

“We learnt something new every day…  finding out about the sun.”
